Fraser Reade is a photographer and videographer based in Atlanta, Georgia.

In college at the University of Georgia, I ran on the cross country team. We would run daily through miles and miles of nature trails, but never made time to slow down and realize what we were running through. It took me getting a macro lens to reveal the tiny world I had been running past for years. After purchasing my first macro lens, I went on a short hike and found a very common spider I had never taken notice of before-—the Venusta Orchard Orb Weaver. The patterns were so vibrant and alien-like that I became obsessed immediately. I never realized the thrill of wildlife photography was so accessible until this moment. We don't have to escape to the wilderness, but can instead slow down and pay close attention to the arthropods right in front of us.
